More troops from Britain will be trained in Laikipia and other parts of the country, British High Commissioner to Kenya Nic Hailey has said.

Speaking when he met Governor Ndiritu Muriithi yesterday, Mr Hailey said the British Army Training Unit in Kenya (Batuk) will remain in the country and specifically in Laikipia.

“Batuk is here to stay and we are looking forward to getting back to training more troops in Laikipia and other places,” said Hailey.

About 10,000 British soldiers train in Kenya every year as the arid countryside environment is said to be ideal.
