Mutahi Ngunyi remarks against Raila sparks uproar among Kenyans online

Controversial political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi, on 20 November told National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga that he can die if he wants to. This is in response to his (Raila) speech at the burial of Kitui West MP Francis Nyenze on Tuesday 19 November at Kyondoni village in Makueni County.

Mr Ngunyi went ahead and told the Opposition leader that he should stop threatening people.

“If Raila wants to DIE, No one has STOPPED him. He can DIE, if it MAKES him HAPPY. He does NOT need OUR Permission. But he should STOP 'Vitisho',” Mutahi posted on his social media pages.

During his speech at the burial, Raila Odinga told AG Muigai that they are not afraid of dying for the sake of Kenya.

“I want to answer Prof Muigai and his bosses today that we are not afraid of dying for the sake of this country… His repeated threats to open treason charges against us will not stop us from our planned swearing-in,” said Raila.

"They should stop trying to intimidate me about treason. I am ready to be sworn in and die. We will be sworn in na wafanye vile wanataka kufanya (let them do whatever they want)… Kenyans want electoral justice, a reformed police service which doesn’t use brutal force, an independent Judiciary which cannot be intimidated by the ex-executive, and strengthened devolution," he added.

However, Mutahi’s remarks were not met well by Kenyans on social media and mostly NASA supporters. Here is what some of them had to say;
