Golf: 241 golfers face off at the 70-year-old club as Victor Gichuru begins second term as chairman

Muchina wins Limuru chairman’s top prize

Tom’s imperious form delivers Magnate-Ventures tournament gong as Thande scoops Ladies’ medal. 

Handicap 16 Tom Muchina played a superb round, returning a score of 40 stableford points to emerge the overall winner during the Victor Gichuru — Chairman’s prize played at the par 72 Limuru golf and country club which tips 6872 yards over the weekend.

On the outward nine, Muchina sank 3 pars, 4 bogeys, 1 double-bogey and 1 birdie while in the the inward nine he had 2 pars and 7 bogeys that enabled him amass 40 stableford points to claim the overall title during the Magnate-Ventures sponsored tournament.

Some 241 golfers participated in the event that heralded Victor Gichuru’s second term at the helm of the 70-year-old club.

Handicap 16 Muigai Kamau emerged the Men winner on a score of 38 stableford points as Andrew Koech, playing off 22, took Men second prize on a score of 37 stableford points and Njunge Mungai taking Men winner third prize on 36 a score of 36 stableford points.

Wairimu Thande playing off handicap 19 was in her element as she posted 37 stableford points to don the Ladies medal edging out handicap 14 Wairimu Gakuo on countback to Lady second prize winner on a similar score of 37 stableford points, Varsha Pandya playing off 30 and Jeniffer Ngure playing off 16 tied for Lady fourth and fifth respectively with 33 stableford points each.

Golf Park’s S Otiola playing off 20, was the Guest prize winner on a score of 33 stableford points with R Oyale playing off 20 from Royal Nairobi golf club taking Guest runner-up prize on a similar score of 33 stableford points and W Omodho taking Guest prize third on a score of 33 stableford points while Job Kamau closed the guest winners list with 31 stableford points.

Moses Muchiri was the 1st Nine winner with 21 stableford points with Ken Karanja taking the 2nd Nine winner prize on a score of 21 stableford points.

The Longest drive prize in the Men category went to E Guda with Frankie Gichuru taking the Ladies Longest drive prize.

Arshad Sheikh playing off handicap 23 posted a score of 30 stableford points to take the Junior prize in the tournament that saw 12 two club recorded.

At the par 72 Railways golf club handicap 25 Mildred Marubi posted 40 stableford points to win the Overall prize, Carren Agengo was second with 36 stableford points and Jane Njoroge taking third place on a score of 33 stableford points.

In the Men’s subsidiary PJG Karanja was the Men winner on a score of 38 stableford point, Men second winner was John Lejirma with 37 stableford points, Sho Onyango took Men third prize on a score of 36 stableford points.

In Nanyuki, Father Paul Wangai was the overall winner.
