If DPP wants to arrest Alice Wahome then he better come for all of us, say Jubilee women MPs

A group of Jubilee women Members of Parliament (MPs) have defended Kandara MP Alice Wahome of what they are terming as unjustified persecution by the DPP.

Speaking at a Nairobi hotel led by Kigumo MP Ruth Wangari, they said the directive by the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) that wahome should be arrested and charged for allegedly assaulting a returning officer shall be resisted.

They said on Sunday that the police should instead apprehend the returning officer for breaking the law.

“We have seen the police failing to fulfill their duties. We have seen the media failing to tell a true account of events. We have seen the 440 voters of the area have their voice silenced and we are here to say no more,’’ declared Wangari.

"If the DPP wants to arrest MP Wahome then he better come for all of us,” she added.

The DPP on Saturday ordered Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet to investigate the assault.
