A slow start has been reported in most polling centres in the country as voting has started in the repeat presidential election.

Most National Super Alliance (NASA) bastions have heeded Raila Odinga’s call and boycotted the poll in Siaya, Migori and Kibra.

Low voter turnout has been recorded in Mathare Constituency with some polling centres having very few people.

Returning Officer Japheth Mwololo saying it was 20% turnout at 10am.

Residents in areas perceived to be Jubilee strongholds have turned up to cast their vote in the disputed repeat poll.

The turnout, however, is not massive as was the case in the August 8 General Election.

Numerous businesses have also been closed in Eldoret and many residents have gone out to vote in their various polling stations.

Governor Jackson Mandago had pleaded with the residents urging them to close shops and ensure that President Uhuru Kenyatta gets maximum votes.
