DPP Keriako protests over agencies failure to submit probe files on electoral crimes

Director of Public Prosecutions Keriako Tobiko

A team tasked with investigating individuals accused of bungling the August 8 presidential election is yet to submit its report despite the 21-day ultimatum lapsing.

Instead, the team has told Director of Public Prosecutions Keriako Tobiko that investigations are at an advanced stage.

Mr Tobiko voiced his frustration with the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) and the police for not submitting their investigation files.

“I note that no investigation files have been submitted as earlier directed,” said Tobiko in letters to the EACC and police bosses.

The letters were addressed to Director of Criminal Investigations Ndegwa Muhoro and EACC Chief Executive Halakhe Waqo.

“... you indicate that investigations commenced immediately upon receipt of my directive and the same are now at advanced stage. While I appreciate the information provided, nonetheless what would be most useful is a detailed status report on the investigations,” read the letter dated October 19.

The EACC and police are yet to respond to the demands or to interrogate some of the suspects.
