Acting Interior CS Fred Matiang'i assures on poll security

Acting Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i has assured Kenyans there will be no security lapse during the October 26 repeat presidential polls.

Dr Matiang'i was addressing a congregation at Nyansoko Seventh Day Adventist Church in Borabu in Nyamira County.

The CS said the Government has addressed all security concerns raised by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).

"There are people who have said they will not take part in the upcoming election and have vowed to block IEBC from executing its statutory mandate. I am here by assuring you that we are ready to provide any necessary assistance to ensure a peaceful exercise," Matiang'i said.

The CS said the October 26 presidential election must be accomplished and nothing will be left to chances on matters security.

The State has engaged chiefs, their assistants and the wider hierarchies of the national government structures to ensure smooth voting.

The CS at the same time appealed to the Gusii community to vote for President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Other prominent members of the community who graced the occasion included Kenya Bureau of Standards Chief Executive Charles Ongwae.

The Secretary for Buildings Inspectorate Moses Nyakiongora and former Law Society of Kenya Kennedy Nyaundi were also present.
