Kenya Wildlife Service recover body of Chinese tourist who fell to his death while climbing Mt Kenya

The body of a Chinese national who fell while climbing Mt Kenya over the weekend has been found.

Fang Wenchao, 33, from Hong Kong had scaled to Batian Peak - 5199 metres- and was climbing down accompanied by climbing guide David Muigai when he slipped and fell down a 60 metre cliff to his death.

The accident happened on September 22 near Shipton’s Notch. “The Chinese tourist and his guide had already reached the summit and they were climbing down. The accident happened at around 3pm when the tourist slipped down a cliff,” a report by KWS mountain rescue team said.
