Opposition leader Raila Odinga has linked Deputy President William Ruto to the squabbles that have befallen the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission following the nullified presidential poll.

Raila wondered why Kenyans would trust the IEBC as currently constituted to conduct another poll, claiming that there were individuals in the electoral agency that should be removed.

Speaking during a press conference at Panari Hotel, Raila claimed that the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) CEO Ezra Chiloba worked with Mr Ruto.

"Why should Kenya trust these institutions? Is it because the IEBC went to a retreat and buried their hatchet? Is it because Safran gave itself a clean of bill? Is it because IEBC CEO Ezra Chiloba answered the Chebukati memo and gave it to DP William Ruto?" asked Raila.

Raila also accused Safran Morpho of engaging in discussions with IEBC officials to manipulate the August poll.

He stressed that that the company’s KIEMS kits that were used cannot be trusted to run another election.

Partners in crime

The NASA presidential candidate reiterated that the electoral body worked together with the Jubilee Government to rig him out, referring to the two parties as ‘partners in crime’.

Raila made the remarks on a day when the Opposition coalition launched a campaign to sensitise the public against an election held by the IEBC as currently constituted.

“We shall go around the country sensitizing people about our case against elections by IEBC. We shall sensitise our people about the reforms that must be put in place before another election can be called,” said Raila during the press conference.

NASA leaders later attended a church service at AIC Pipeline in Embakasi East Constituency and would later address a rally at Jacaranda grounds.
