Jubilee leaders led by Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen have dared the National Super Alliance leader, Raila Odinga, to boycott the October 17 repeat presidential election.

The Jubilee brigade indicated that should Raila skip the poll, President Uhuru Kenyatta will have an easier road to be crowned Head of State for a second term.

"Let them boycott and Uhuru Kenyatta will be sworn in as the next president. It Wil be an easy job for us. IEBC is an independent commission and should not be directed on how to do its work,” Murkomen said.

Murkomen, who was accompanied by Murang'a Woman Representative Sabina Chege, pointed out that there was no legal requirement for the Opposition to be on the ballot hence they should not give conditions.

Speaking at Parliament buildings, Ms Chege added that postponing the election would disrupt students as they prepare for the national examinations.

Raila had earlier protested the October 17 election date and gave new conditions including immediate firing of senior IEBC officials.

He also demanded access to electronic servers to be used by the electoral commission if polls are to be held on that date.

"There will be no election on the 17th unless the specific demands herein are honoured. We demand nothing less than a fully transparent and accountable electoral process. IEBC seems anxious to reach an outcome it desires," the former Prime Minister ordered.

Raila spoke on Tuesday at the Wilson Airport shortly before he departed to Kisii and Nyamira counties for campaign rallies.
