Homa Bay County Police commander, Marius Tum, said they had launched a man hunt for the suspect.

"The information we have is that the woman arrived from Nairobi and sought refuge at a friend's house with an intention of meeting her children and taking them to Nairobi. But the husband got wind of her intentions before she met the minors," said Tum.

It is said he then lured her out of the friend's house and attacked her with a machete and blunt objects, leaving her dead near the river.  Her body which had deep cuts was discovered by passersby.

Mr Tum said the couple have had domestic row for the past 8 months when the lady quit her matrimonial home for Nairobi in protest over soar relationship.

"The lady suffered deep cuts on both hands, at the wrist, shoulder and right thigh before she died," said the Police Chief

Tum said they had launched investigations to ensure he is arrested and charged in court.  He regretted that fatal domestic squabbles were on the rise in the County.

"Homa Bay residents should seek legal measures or seek counseling in addressing challenges which affect their marriages instead of resorting to murder or assault," Mr.  Tum said.
