Gor Mahia hoping to complete double over Muhoroni Youth.
Football action resumes this weekend across the country after a short break with five Kenyan Premier League matches on the card.
Gor Mahia will be hoping to complete a double over troubled Muhoroni Youth and extend their stay at the top of the Kenyan Premier League when the two sides clash at Moi Stadium today.
On-form K’Ogalo, who have so far amassed 37 points from 18 outings, beat bottom rooted Muhoroni 2-0 at the same venue a fortnight ago.
However, Gor’s return leg tie preparation have been slightly affected by a tussle involving midfielder Kenneth Muguna whom they are likely to lose to Albanian giants FK Tirana.
The reigning player of the year has publicly expressed his interest to reunite with his former coach Jose Marcelo in Europe. But coach Dylan Kerr is unwilling to release the highly rated former Western Stima man.
Just like Gor, Muhoroni also have their own off-the-pitch issues. Just days after parting ways with head coach Gilbert Selebwa, Muhoroni and its chairman Moses Adagala have been slapped with a Sh 400,000 and Sh 200,000 each by Independent Disciplinary and Complaints Committee for causing trouble and abandonment of their March 26 league match against Kakamega Homeboyz.
The disciplinary body further banned Adagala from attending any league matches for 60 days.
But Muhoroni coach James Omondi is keen to beat Gor. “The League is taking shape, and at this point in the season, every match matters as it could determine your fate in the top flight. We have not had a good run against Gor Mahia.
“We respect them but moving forward, we will have to handle every game as a final and ensure we win as many games as possible so that we remain in the top flight league,” he said.
