‘Who killed my father and why?’ – Six-year old leaves Raila and team in tears

Tuesday, the 15th of August 2017, Raila Odinga and other NASA officials were left stunned by one question posed to them by the son of the slain Independent Election and Boundaries ICT manager Chris Msando.

Raila had been accompanied by other NASA officials to Msando’s house in Nyayo Estate, where he was warmly received by the family of the deceased.

Mitch Alvin is a class two pupil and is also the son of Chris Msando.

Days after losing elections to President Uhuru Kenyatta, Raila Odinga and his team sought to comfort the family, who were still in pain after the death of their own.

Immediately Raila walked into Msando’s house, the young boy, with a broad smile, received the Opposition leader, but then frowned and directly asked Raila, “Who killed my father and why?”

For a moment, not a single person in the room said a word as the boy’s eyes remained fixed on Raila’s face.

Senator Orengo, who was also there could be seen wiping tears from his face.

Some journalists even looked away with the microphones still facing the NASA leader.

After a moment of stare between Raila and Alvin, the former Prime Minister said, “We don’t know yet, we are trying our best to find your father’s killers and I promise you that we shall. “

Raila also assured the young man that his father was a great person as the boy rested against Raila seeking consolation.

The other politicians present tried to give Alvin a proper explanation but none could perfectly compose themselves to do so.

“Whoever did it, God is watching you…” said Alvin.

On a lighter note, Raila had taken Alvin to meet his bodyguards after the boy’s curiosity to see them increased.

Chris Msando’s body was found dumped in Muguga Forest, alongside the body of Maryanne Ngumbu, his close friend.
