Nakuru Senator-elect Susan Kihika has promised to unite residents of the cosmopolitan county. She thanked locals for electing her and promised to discharge her duties faithfully.

Kihika, the former county assembly speaker, also thanked voters for maintaining peace.

"I call on those who lost to accept defeat and work with winners so we can develop our county while ensuring cohesion," Kihika said Sunday.

She said unity among leaders will also bring residents together.

"In every competition, there must be the winner and the loser. We need to put the elections behind us now and move the county forward," she said.

Kihika of Jubilee garnered 658, 174 votes to beat ODM's Samwel Ogada who got 56,830.
