IEBC ICT manager Chris Msando

Nairobi, Kenya:  The body of Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission ICT manager Chris Msando was on Monday found at City Mortuary in Nairobi, a day after he was reported missing.

Police said his body was discovered in Kikuyu forest and the mortuary records show that it was brought in on Saturday morning, alongside that of an unidentified woman at the same spot.

IEBC chair Wafula Chebukati and top commission officials were at the mortuary to help identify the body.

A somber mood engulfed Anniversary Towers following the news of his death with Police officers deployed to guard the offices.

The late has been described as a knowledgeable person, humble and charismatic by his colleagues.

Those who served with him at the IEBC including Andrew Limo, Tabitha Mutemi and Ronnel Onchagwa described the late Msando as an eloquent person who exuded great passion and in-depth knowledge of technology.

His vehicle had earlier been found abandoned in Roysambu, Nairobi.

Police said they were called and informed about the discovery of the Land Rover Discovery near Thika Road Mall (TRM). The car had been locked and seemed to have been there for a while.

He was one of the few people with knowledge on the location of IEBC servers. Msando had reported to Central police station about death threats to him.

The death comes a week to Kenya’s General Election.
