Missing IEBC manager Chris Msando’s car found abandoned in Roysambu

Chris Msando's car found near Thika Road Mall in Roysambu, Nairobi.

A vehicle belonging to missing IEBC ICT manager Chris Msando was Sunday night found abandoned in Roysambu, Nairobi.

But the manager is yet to be found and search for him is ongoing.

Police said they were called and informed about the discovery of the Land Rover Discovery near Thika Road Mall (TRM). The car had been locked and seemed to have been there for a while.

Msando's whereabouts are yet to be known since Saturday dawn when his mobile phones were switched off. He was one of the few people with knowledge on the location of IEBC servers. Msando had reported to Central police station about death threats to him.

Nairobi police boss Japheth Koome said residents in Roysambu informed them about the car.

“The car was recovered but the owner is yet to be found. We are still searching for him and want to appeal to anyone who may know where he is to inform us,” he said.

Msando has been missing since Friday night and his family said they couldn't trace him. They reported the matter at Embakasi police station.

The incident is a blow to IEBC as Msando was to lead a dry run programme Monday to demonstrate how transmission of results would be done.

It also comes a week to the General Election.
