Cases of violence in Kisii County are on the rise as the August 8 General Election nears. Last week, several people were injured at Daraja Mbili after Jubilee and ODM youths engaged in vicious battles.

On Thursday, more than 500 Jubilee youth and the party's Kisii Presidential campaign coordinator Antony Kibagendi were meeting in Kisii when hell broke loose.

Violence erupted when ODM youths tried to get access to the venue of the meeting.

ODM Kisii County Youth League Chairman Eric Janganya blamed Kibagendi for the mayhem because he was inciting the youth against Governor James Ongwae.

"Jubilee should explain why they are giving out money to Kibagendi to cause chaos in Kisii," said Mr Janganya.

However, Kibagendi blamed Kisii County top leaders for the fracas.
