Suna East MP Junet Mohamed has been released on a Sh100, 000 cash bail. He is facing hate speech charges over his recent utterances at a campaign rally in Homa Bay town.

Earlier on, Homa Bay police had arrested him over the allegations.

Junet Mohamed is not new to controversy, last year he was among eight legislators who were arrested and detained for four days over hate speech.

The eight politicians, Johnstone Muthama, Mohamed Junet, Timothy Bosire, Moses Kuria, Kimani Ngunjiri, Ferdinand Waititu, Aisha Jumwa and Florence Mutua, were arrested and kept in police cells for four days until when they were later released on bond.
