Divisions have emerged among ODM aspirants ahead of next month's elections.

They are accusing each other of supporting Jubilee rivals in certain areas and this is threatening to split the party.

During a meeting convened in Mwatate Town to stem a possible fallout, some aspirants accused Wundanyi MP Thomas Mwadeghu of campaigning for Jubilee candidates.

The meeting was also told a section of ODM candidates were supporting governor John Mruttu, who is defending his seat as an independent candidate against Orange governorship candidate Mwadeghu.

Mwadeghu won the ODM ticket after beating the incumbent in the disputed nominations.

It emerged Mruttu was also enjoying huge support from some ODM candidates and supporters. The governor has however told ODM to stop dragging his name into party wrangles.

Pastor Jackson Shako, who is allied to ODM, yesterday accused Mwadeghu of supporting a Jubilee candidate for the Wundanyi parliamentary seat instead of the party's candidate Raymond Mwangola. He claimed the MP had attended a Jubilee parliamentary candidate's rally.

"I attended the meeting and the MP was drumming up support for the Jubilee candidate," Shako said. But Mwadeghu has dismissed the claims.
