An additional 10,000 poll kits have been delivered to the electoral agency.

The arrival of the 10,080 kits means 35,000 items have so far been delivered to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).

A further 10,000 kits are expected in the country in the coming weeks, according to the supplier of the Kenya Integrated Elections Management Systems (KIEMS).

The KIEMS kits supplied by Safran Identity and Security ahead of the August 8 General Election arrived at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) on Friday aboard a Kenya Airways flight.

The kits are part of a consignment of 45,000 kits ordered by the IEBC ahead of the next elections.

More than 11,000 kits have already been deployed in the ongoing voter verification exercise.

"We expect the entire consignment from Safran Identity and Security to be delivered ahead of schedule," said IEBC CEO Ezra Chiloba.
