Top Journalist quits media industry for county government job

A journalist working for one of the top publications in the country has announced his move to leave the media industry as he joins the public service as the chief public relations officer for Kericho County.

Timothy Kemei has been working in the County as a senior reporter and yesterday through his social media page informed his colleagues and friends of his new role at the Kericho County government.

“Beginning tomorrow (Wednesday May 24), I will take up my new job as the Chief Public Relations Officer at the County government of Kericho,” he said in a post.

He expressed gratitude to massive support he had been accorded by his now former colleagues at and the public while he worked in the media and that he intends to ensure that the cordial relationship continues with much interaction with the public.

“Hopefully I will be able to respond to any issues relating to county government business now and in the future,” he said.

Mr Kemei has been in Journalism for five years, he was a reporter in Nairobi where he started his career and later worked in Nakuru County.

He graduated with a degree in Journalism and Mass Communication from Egerton University in 2011.
