Protests hit Jubilee stronghold town as MCA name slip IEBC list

Protests today engulfed Elgeyo Marakwet County headquarters after a MCA nominee's name missed on the IEBC list.

The supporters of the embattled Jubilee Party member of County Assembly nominee for Kapcheutwa Ward, Ambrose Kimutai Kiplagat, are blaming the party for the error.

They have demanded Jubilee leadership acts swiftly and address the issue before IEBC closes on aspirants list on Sunday 28 this month lest they will quit the party.

“We are calling upon Jubilee Party under the leadership of the President Uhuru Kenyatta and William Ruto to respect the decision of Kapchemutwa ward,” Moses Ngemui, one of the protesters said.

Irate supporters, carrying suggesting posters went round Iten Town before camping outside Keiyo North sub-county IEBC offices.

Ambrose who is nicknamed Roho Juu is among other candidates who are suffering from such omission errors some days to the closure of the nomination exercise.

The IEBC list appears to have replaced Kimutai’s name with Stephen Cheruiyot who is said to have emerged second in the recently concluded Jubilee Party primaries in Kapchemutea Ward.

Elgeyo Marakwet county IEBC officer incharge, Moses Ledama, said that the commission listed the names as received from the political parties and urged the candidate to report the case to the party.
