Arsenal have fended off interest from Manchester City and Chelsea to snatch Schalke defender Sead Kolasinac, according to skysports.com.
Kolasinac is a left back who has been earning rave reviews in the Bundesliga this season.
His versatility will appeal to Arsene Wenger or the next Arsenal manager as he can play in several positions across the back.
He also has experience of playing in midfield due to him being deployed as a defensive midfielder in Schalke’s youth sides.
Kolasinac began his career with his hometown club Karlsruher before having a brief spell with Stuttgart and then joined Schalke.
AC Milan and Everton were also keen on the 23-year-old Bosnia and Herzegovina international.
Kolasinac has been offered a four-year contract, can play left wing back and is seen as the club’s long term first choice.
