Underhand tactics that were used to edge out Kiambu Governor William Kabogo

A lot has been said about the Kiambu Jubilee primaries for the governorship with many people poking fun at Governor William Kabogo.

What many have not thought about is the factors that made Kiambu get the results that it got which many now believe were not the most favourable. We obviously did not expect that Governor Kabogo would have an easy run for a second term but we also did not expect people to use underhand tactics to throw him off the track.

A lot of people in and out of Kiambu have no idea what Governor Kabogo’s government has done over the last four years. This is because the reelection of Kabogo and the thirst for power by other politicians was driven by propaganda instead of facts. Kiambu people were lied to and made to believe that Kabogo was the enemy and not the servant they elected to help advance their interests.

Today, if you ask any one, in and out of Kiambu, to tell you where he uttered the words that were used to campaign against him, they cannot. This is because, those words do not exist and were created as a distraction for political reasons.

The propaganda against Governor Kabogo was well calculated and in the all style of politics, preserved until the last minute to derail the voters. It was timed to compel to the voters’ emotions instead of challenging their minds to the transformation that they were experiencing across the county.

Many of us believe that this propaganda plus manipulation of the votes was what led to the loss. A result that did not reflect the will of the people, where the winner of the nominations has nothing to show for their time in public service.

Governor Kabogo was, through the propaganda, accused of having demeaned the women through his apparent remarks that have not been produced in any form – audio or video. But ask yourself if a man, in his right mind, who knows that the bulk of his voters are the female would make such remarks.

Even further, a man who has dedicated his time as governor to uplift people, and especially women and the youth, would want to jeopardise his legacy with such alleged remarks. The people who engineered the propaganda against Kabogo have done a great deservice to Kiambu. They painted him as a devil who was only interested in insulting people and the power and status that comes with the officer of the Governor.

But if Governor Kabogo was only interested in the power and status, why was he, days after nominations, at Thika hospital inspecting projects by his government?
