Opinion: Was it proper to clear Mwiraria of Anglo leasing charges posthumously?

Bishop Kiambi Atheru, Meru gubernatorial aspirant

I worked a lot with Hon Mwiraria when l was the district water officer for Meru Central.

Recently, l went to visit him when he was not feeling well.

I learnt of his death with profound shock, and I am very disturbed that it is now that they want to clear Mwiraria of Anglo Leasing charges.

For most of us, we knew him as a humble person who was all along innocent.

In my opinion, the call at this time sounds hypocritical! Why now after his death. Why these leaders save him all the court didn’t troubles by accepting to be part of his defence witnesses while he was alive?

We need a completely fresh brand of politicians in Kenya who will embrace rational thinking!

Culturally they fulfilled their mandate at his burial. But the utterances were misplaced in this 21st century.

If there is anything one can do to help someone at that person’s individual capacity, let it be done while he or she is alive.

After death, the whole matter is vanity! Those who have interacted with him and I can certainly say that Mr Mwiraria was innocent and remains innocent
