Antony Muheria named new Nyeri Archbishop

Antony Muheria will now serve as Nyeri Archbishop. 

Pope Francis has appointed Bishop Antony Muheria as the new archbishop of Nyeri.  A communication from the Vatican Embassy in Nairobi confirmed the appointment of Muheria, who is currently serving as the bishop of Kitui diocese.

"On behalf of the Apostolic Nuncio, I have the honour and pleasure to inform you that Pope Francis has appointed the Right Reverend Anthony Muheria as Archbishop of Nyeri," stated the communication addressed to all archbishops and bishops in the country.

The new archbishop will replace Peter Kairo who retired last year after 33 years in service. Muheria was born in 1953.
