Ochillo Ayacko sues Raila and Party, wants Obado barred from nominations

The Orange Democratic party led by Raila Odinga is facing a legal battle from one of the aspirants for the Migori gubernatorial seat.

George Ochillo Ayacko went to court to sue both the party ODM and it's leader Raila Odinga in what he terms attempts to favour the incumbent Governor Okoth Obado by the party.

He has sued to have the governor blocked from vying in the forthcoming nominations claiming he has not decamped from People Democratic Party (PDP)

The former Rongo Member of Parliament is not new to such court battles. In 2007 when he was still the MP for the larger Rongo, he sued a high school principal, two journalists and a former Manager with a state corporation over claims that he was caught in bed with the principal's wife

He has sued the Orange Democratic party led by former Prime Minister Raila Odinga seeking to have Obado 's name not to appear on the ballot box in the forthcoming nominations slated for April 19th

Obado who was elected on a PDP ticket after flooring ODM's Akongo Oyugi decamped back to ODM where he was received by Party leader Raila Odinga at Migori stadium on July 8, 2016.

During the unveiling by the party leader, Obado said “I have now defected officially to ODM and those who linked me to Jubilee in a bid to gain ground are in danger.

I am going to seek ODM ticket in the primaries,” the governor announced at the Migori stadium where he was received by party leader Raila Odinga.

It is alleged that ODM has spent a huge sum of money on the case.

Ochillo Ayako's character has always been under suspicion having dined with the Kibaki government landing a job at Kenya Nuclear Electricity Board as the CEO.

Ochillo's tenure as the CEO of KNEB ensured he reached out to the Jubilee government to have the wife given a lucrative job.

The President facilitated the appointment of the wife as a senior HR at KETRACO where she holds until now.

Political analysts are viewing this action by the former Rongo MP as an act to create confusion and set a stage for violence as was witnessed some years back when he lost the ODM nominations to current Rongo MP Dalmas Otieno Anyango.

They also say Ochillo is not new to nominations controversies, he lost the primaries to Dalmas and refused to concede instead decanting to Martha Karua led NARC.

He has never decamped from the said party with the party leader already declaring support for Uhuru Kenyatta in the August 10 elections.

Ochillo's wife like any other gubernatorial aspirants should be taking center stage in propelling the party agenda and Canadian for the ODM presidential candidate but instead enjoys the fruits of the presidential job awarded to her.

By taking the Raila led party to court, the former sports minister is fighting the party considering the party leader had officially welcomed at shown in the above picture.

To Ochillo, by Obado being officially unveiled by the party leader is not enough for the incumbent to vote for the ODM primaries. He wants the governor to resign as the governor and decamp to ODM.

He is even asking to be given a direct nomination instead with rumors rife that the other aspirant Anne Anyanga who is also one of the alleged sponsors of the court case could be the running mate

Sources inside ODM are not happy at the move by the former Rongo MP and it's believed the party will part with more than Sh5 million for the court battle.

The ODM primaries are slated for April 19th where the winner will represent ODM in the Migori County August 8th polls.

Latest opinions released shows Governor Obado leading in seven of the eight constituencies polling a combined total of 60 per cent against Ochillo 's 31 per cent. Both former Sony Sugar MD and Anne Anyanga had less than 2 per cent
