The Government has allocated Sh3 billion for research in the 2016/17 Financial Year, an international health conference heard.

National Commission for Science, Technology and Innovation Director for Technical Services Roy Mugiira, while addressing participants from the US and Kenya at the International Workshop on Clinical and Health Research and Writing of Grant Proposals on Thursday at Thiiri Centre in North Imenti, said the funds were channeled to the National Research Fund.

The idea was for the cash to reach two per cent of the GDP or Sh67 billion. “The ideas is supposed to mobilise funds from the government and development partners and put together into a kitty for research,” he said.
