Address medics and lecturers strikes, says Gideon Moi

Gideon Moi asked the Government to engage those who had withdrawn their labour in order to solve stalemate.

Kanu chairman Gideon Moi has challenged the Government to urgently address the ongoing strikes by medics and lecturers.

Speaking after chairing the party's National Executive Council (NEC), Gideon also called for urgent and sufficient response to the drought situation, calling for distribution of relief food in areas worst affected.

He said Kenyans in many parts of the country are at a risk of starvation after crop failure and called for urgent measures from the Government to help ease the situation.

"The situation could be catastrophic unless urgent measures are taken by the Government and other relief agencies. As leaders, we are also contributing to help our colleagues who are in want. We are encouraging more support for the drought-stricken," said Gideon.

He said because of the drought and hunger, cases of insecurity had increased, especially in the North Rift, a move that was threatening the ongoing mass registration of voters.

On the ongoing strikes, Gideon asked the Government to engage those who had withdrawn their labour, saying the continued unrest was making Kenyans suffer.
