County officials arrested for soliciting Sh10,000 bribe

Three county government officials have been arrested by Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission officials for allegedly soliciting a Sh10,000 bribe from a private developer.

Samuel Manga, Francis Barasa and George Barasa reportedly stopped the developer from constructing a structure in Kobos Market without the county’s approval. The developer reported the issue to the EACC detectives who laid a trap for the trio.

A source said the officials last week received Sh20,000 and were going to pick the balance when they were seized. Area OCPD Jackson Mwenga said the suspects will be arraigned in the anti-corruption court in Eldoret on Monday.

“It is true three county officials have been arrested for demanding and receiving bribes from a resident. They will be presented to court next week,” he said.
