Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Women Premier League Zone A matches resume today with two games on the card.

Zone A league was suspended for three weeks while the national team was away in Cameroon for their maiden appearance in the African Women Cup of Nations finals where they lost all their matches.

Mombasa-based, star-studded Spedag FC will face Soccer Sisters today at Camp Toyoyo from 1pm while defending champions Thika Queens will welcome Soccer Queens at Thika Sub Country Municipal Stadium the same day as the battle for the top spot continues.

Spedag coach Christine Nanjala said they are working hard to finish top of the table.

“We have lost only one match against Thika Queens and we can’t afford to lose any other game. We are going for max mum points,” she said.

Ahead of this fixture, Spedag has amassed 23 points from ten matches, same points with the champions who have a match in hand.

Spedag will be going into this match full of confidence considering the fact that their opponents, Soccer Sisters are languishing at the bottom of the league with only five points from nine matches.

The last time the teams met in the first leg, Spedag who finished as runners up last season registered a resounding 9-0 win at Mombasa Sports Club and this will be an uphill task for Soccer Sisters as they try to redeem their chances of escaping a chop to the lower tier.

Spedag who enjoy the services of a number of Harambee Starlets will be spearheaded by Esse Akida who has scored 13 league goals this season as the club’s top scorer.

Akida has enjoyed top form this season for both club and country and Sisters will have a hard time.
