Hotelier Osewe shot and seriously injured along Thika road

Popular hotelier William Osewe was Thursday afternoon shot and seriously wounded by a licensed firearm holder in a quarrel at a hotel along Thika Road, Nairobi.

Osewe who owns the K’Osewe Ranalo Foods is said to have engaged businessman Tom Oywa Mboya in a scuffle and quarrel at a hotel near the Roasters Hotel in the city.

The attacker is a tour agent who is known to Osewe.

Police say he will face charges of attempted murder and that Osewe was shot in the stomach, chest and right hand.

According to witnesses and police, Osewe had joined a table that Mboya was with other revelers before an argument and scuffle broke out.

“In the process, the licensed firearm holder went for his gun and shot Osewe as other revelers there scampered for safety. The victim is stable in hospital,” said Nairobi police boss Japheth Koome.

He was first rushed to the AAR Healthcare at Mountain Mall before he was transferred to Aga Khan Hospital.

Witnesses said his vehicle, a cream Mercedes Benz was later towed to Kasarani police station by police

The attacker surrendered to the police and was disarmed. Police said they are investigating the matter. Mboya told police Osewe confronted him first leading to the bloody incident.

Other witnesses at the joint where the fight broke out said the two were shouting over what sounded like a woman.

“We don’t know who she is but they were shouting over unknown woman,” said a witness.

The incident caused panic at the joint as revelers scampered for safety.
