Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has endorsed President Uhuru Kenyatta's re-election bid in 2017 General Election

The governor vowed to rally the Kamba community behind him to avoid being locked out of the next government.

Speaking in Kitui County when he went to popularise his Maendeleo Chap Chap party, Dr Mutua said he was confident that Jubilee administration will recapture the presidency and urged the community not to be lured into supporting the 'moribund' Opposition.

He said apart form the Presidency, his party will field candidates in all other elective posts in the Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka's backyard and expressed confidence that the President will receive overwhelming support and votes.

"I am getting overwhelming support from corners in the three Ukambani counties. We will have candidates all over the country," Mutua said.

He assured all aspirants that they will receive material and financial support from the party.

Mutua who held an interactive forum with Kitui South residents and leaders led by Ikutha MCA Hussein Mwandia, said his party will offer good leadership across the country.

The governor said he interacted and shared with the residents his personal story of growing up in a poor city slum, "which is not different from that of other regular children growing up in rural Kenya."

He said it was regrettable that more than 50 years since independence, the country still has parts experiencing lack of clean drinking water, poor health systems, bad roads and many more issues.

"We need to change the way we do things. We must pursue goals that will increase food production for domestic use, improve the quality of education and focus on job creation," he said.
