Thika Police Station is on the spot after a motorbike that was to be used as an exhibit in court went missing.

The motorbike belonging to Moses Muthee, a boda boda operator, had been detained at the station on December 5, 2014.

Mr Muthee had been arrested after a woman customer claimed he had attempted to rape her.

The matter was reported under OB NO 60/07/12/2014 and police were to produce the motorbike in court during the hearing of the case.

However, the attempted rape case was terminated on December 2015 after the complainant and witnesses failed to attend court proceedings.

And being a free man, the boda boda operator went for his motorbike at the police station but to his utter shock, it could not be traced.

Since January this year, Muthee alleges the police has been taking him around in circles whenever he goes to inquire about his motorbike.

“It is now about 10 months since I was released from prison and my Sh93,000 motorcycle is yet to be found. I feel that I have hit a dead end. Police must produce it ,” he said.

 FEED FAMILY

The 35-year-old father of two told The Standard he cannot feed his family as the motorcycle was his only source of income.

James Murigi, a member of Thika town boda boda association, has now given the police 14 days to produce the motorbike failure to which all the operators will storm the station.

He claimed sources at the police station were giving him conflicting information, with some alleging the motorbike was stolen and others indicating that it was sold.

Thika OCPD Erastus Muthamia confirmed they had received complaints from the boda boda operator.
