The Judiciary has cancelled a medical contract with Jubilee Insurance following protests by staff members. An internal memo signed by Chief Registrar Ann Amadi and dated September 3 said termination of the contract would take effect on November 2.

The move follows protests by Judiciary staff under the Kenya Judiciary Staff Association after the insurer directed that those in Job Group D should seek services only from Meridian Clinic Limited.

"The meeting resolved that the present medical insurance contract with Jubilee Insurance be terminated. To that effect, a termination notice has already been issued to the insurer and will take effect from November 2, 2016," read the memo that also said Jubilee would provide services for the next month under the previous agreement.

The contract had been extended by 12 months from September 1 to August 31 next year.
