Strathmore University men’s handball team coach Peter Mwathi is confident his charges will book a position in the national playoff as the league enters the 11th leg this weekend at the Nyayo National Stadium.

Starathmore has been on form this season and has graced the national play offs for the last four years and Mwathi believes that with only four matches remaining to the end of the season, he will be making his fifth consecutive playoff and probably improve on last season’s performance.

Strathmore will take on Mount Kenya University Thika Campus tomorrow.

“It has been a good season for us as we are now on third in the league standings.

“This shows that the team has really improved from last season’s performance and we are striving to take part in the playoff by the end of the season. The dream to win the title is also in sight,” he told Feverpitch.

There are four matches today and three-time domestic champions Nairobi Water are hoping to extend their winning streak when they host MKU Eldoret Campus from 9am.

The champions, Nairobi Water picked a comfortable 55-15 win over MKU Thika Campus last weekend to cement their stay at the summit of the league standing with 16 points from eight matches.

In another women’s category fixture, newcomers Sparklers who are currently at the bottom of the table without a point from five matches will face fourth-placed MKU Eldoret from 2pm.

MKU Eldoret men’s side will welcome Dedan Kimathi University from 11am at the same venue.

MKU Eldoret is placed 12th on the table standing while their opponents are placed in the 14th place in the 16-team league.

Dedan Kimathi University suffered a 65-21 defeat in the hands of Kenya Defense Forces last weekend.

Boomerang HC, who are in 11th place will host the two-time defending champions KDF in the last match of the day from 4pm.
