The Government will use diplomacy to resolve the Migingo Island dispute with Uganda.

Speaking in Nairobi, Defence Cabinet Secretary Raychelle Omamo said on Tuesday that the dispute does not warrant military intervention since Uganda was a friendly nation.

"Not all disputes are resolved through the use of military. The Migingo issue needs a diplomatic approach," she said.

The Government said the Joint Border Commission between the two countries had recommended deployment of Kenyan security personnel to the island.
