King of Nelson Mandela's clan jailed for 12 years in South Africa

A South African traditional king from Nelson Mandela's Thembu ethnic group began a 12-year prison sentence Thursday for arson, kidnap and assault of his subjects, after a long battle to stay out of jail.

King Buyelekhaya Dalindyebo reported to the Mthatha Correctional Centre in Eastern Cape Province overnight after failing in an 11th-hour bid to evade incarceration by seeking a retrial or a presidential pardon.
