Deputy President William Ruto coast region residents to support government in development agenda

Deputy President William Ruto has asked coast region residents to support the Government in implementing its development initiatives.

 Mr Ruto said the Jubilee administration was ready to work with all Kenyans irrespective of their political affiliations.

 “I ask residents in this region to work with us in fulfilling our development agenda,” he said.

 Speaking at St Andrews ACK- Barani Parish in Malindi Constituency where he attended Sunday service, the Deputy President assured that the Government is for all Kenyans whether they voted for it or not.

 “Whether people voted for us or not, we will not discriminate any community in development,” said Mr Ruto.

 The Deputy resident was accompanied by several MPs among them Dan Kazungu (Malindi), Gideon Mungaro (Kilifi North), Peter Shehe (Ganze), Mustafa Iddi (Kilifi South), Ferdinand Waititu (Kabete) Aisha Juma (Kilifi Women rep), Zainab Chidzuga (Kwale) and Harrison Kombe (Magarini).

 The MPs said they would work with the Government despite being in the Opposition party, ODM.

 “Our different political parties will not prevent us from working with the Government in addressing the challenges facing our region,” said Mr Kazungu.

 They said their party was wobbling adding that it was a matter of time before they come up with their political strategy ahead of 2017.

 Ms Juma said they would continue supporting the Government in implementing development for Kenyans before declaring their political position come the next general election.

Ms Chidzuga said nothing would stop them from working together with the Jubilee administration pj matters of development.

 “We will continue to work with the Government in addressing the challenges facing our people because we were elected to serve them and not to engage in endless politicking,” said Ms Chidzuga.

 Mr Iddi said Cord leader Raila Odinga’s chances of taking over the leadership of the country were bleak urging Coast residents to support the Government.

 “When a Government is faced with some few challenges, it does nt mean that it has failed to deliver,” said Mr Iddi.

 The MPs hailed development initiatives being spearheaded by the Government adding that they will support it implement development agenda for the region.

 “We are impressed at the development projects that this Government is undertaking in this region. We will reconsider our political stand come the next election,” said Mr Iddi.

 Mr Mungaro said time for political shift in Coast had come and urged the residents to work with the Government for the sake of development.

 “Time for empty politics is over. As people of Coast it is time we chat our own political direction so as not to be left out of Government after the next election,” said Mr Mungaro.

 The Deputy President said the Government was focused on expanding the economy through improvement of infrastructure, health, education and energy among others areas.

 He said this is aimed at creating more employment opportunities for the youth so as to attain a prosperous nation.

The Deputy President said the Government will work with all leaders to uplift the lives of Kenyans.

 “We will work with all leaders to ensure we deliver on the promises we made to Kenyans. This is why I ask people of Coast to work with us so as to achieve our development goals,” said Mr Ruto.

 The Deputy President also cautioned leaders against engaging in divisive politics.

 “As leaders we must avoid reckless talk or misinformation about our economy or the welfare of the people. We must be responsible in what we do or say,” said Mr Ruto.

 He urged Christians to continue praying or the country noting that Kenya has travelled a long road but there was still a long way to go to realizing some of its goals.

 “We all understand that without God nothing can be done. We should always trust in God for blessings,” said Mr Ruto.

The Deputy President also called for concerted efforts in the fight against corruption.

He said the country has no room for those who misuse public resources.

Mr Ruto said Sh 500million would be used to settle families, which will be displaced in the expansion of the Malindi airport.

He asked local leaders to ensure the resettlement exercise was done in a fair and transparent manner.
