Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale's car involved in fatal road crash

Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale’s car was involved in an accident in which a woman died. Police say the woman was hit at Nabkoi Junction on the Eldoret-Nakuru highway.

The senator’s car, which had its headlamps broken, is being held at Tarakwa Police Station following yesterday’s 8am accident. Eldoret South police chief Esther Muhoro said the senator’s driver had recorded a statement.

“He knocked down a pedestrian who was crossing the road. The woman died on the spot,” said the OCPD. “We are waiting for Mr Khalwale to record his statement over reports that he was the driver. But the body was taken to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital morgue.”

A witness, David Mutai, said, “We ordered the car to stop only for the driver to come out. He sped off after a crowd gathered at the scene.”
