They have now downed their tools as they seek for salary increment and the most affected are the children of ordinary citizens who can barely afford fees in private schools. Unfortunately each day, the time remaining before candidates can sit for national examinations is narrowing. When will these kids prepare for exams?
Pay rise if implemented will improve the living standards of the teachers and also help them further their education. The question every teacher is asking is why they are underpaid and why is the government reluctant to award 50-60 percent salary increment for the teaching force?
The issue should not be politicised since we are dealing with future of this nation for all professionals must pass through the hands of teachers.
