Cardinal john Njue has urged Christians to respect the institution of the family as the basic platform for social well being.
The leader of the Catholic Church in Kenya observed that the emerging errant characters among the youth can be greatly attributed to shaky family setups in which the children are not given the attention they crave.
Singling out radicalization of the youth and same sex marriages which are silently creeping into the Kenyan society, Cardinal Njue warned the youth to focus on their identity as people who respect a supreme being rather than allow themselves to be swayed into characters that damage humanity and the overall sanctity of marriage.
“My appeal to all parents is for them to observe with love how their children are growing up. This is a sacred role that is given to them by none other than God Himself,” he said.
Cardinal Njue was speaking during a church celebration at St. Joseph Mukassa Catholic Parish in Kahawa West.
The celebration was also attended by the senator of Nairobi County, Hon. Mike Mbuvi Sonko, among other members of county assembly.
The Nairobi senator came out strongly to condemn politicians who hijack church proceedings to rally their own campaigns instead of delivering their mandate to those who elected them.
