Trans Nzoia, Kenya: Governor Patrick Khaemba has launched an official website for the county government and a short message service platform in a bid to enhance interactions with the public.

During the launch at the county headquarters, Mr Khaemba assured residents that the web page www.transnzoia.go.ke will create a better platform for information exchange.

He said the site will enable citizens to access unfolding information in the government including available vacancies and other county publications.

The governor said the web page will also allow residents to take part in survey and give their input on matters concerning his administration.

The short SMS interactive platform, on the other hand, will enable residents to get prompt information on their mobile phones by sending key words to the code 21905.

Khaemba said the launch of the website is an important milestone in his administration as he entrenches the culture of transparency and accountability in governance.

"The launch of the website and the SMS platform is crucial because we want to be a transparent and accountable government that is not only responsible but also responsive to the needs of the people," he said adding, "This platform offers you an opportunity to directly interact with my government and get all the information you require without necessarily going to the offices."

He said the website will play a role in information dissemination especially to those in the diaspora by getting informed about the county's development programmes.

"You shall not perish for lack of information. Some people have been complaining about inadequate information on the county's programmes. Now, all information about our development initiatives and projects in different sectors such as health, agriculture, education, tourism, and procurement among others will be readily available and accessible," said.

He added that the website will not only be an important tool for businesses in the county but also a good platform for investors to identify available opportunities.

The governor called on the users of the website to shun petty politics based on unfounded claims and instead focus on constructive debates.

"Do not waste your valuable time on social media engaging in baseless unfounded debates that are like smoke," he advised.
