Inspector General Joseph Boinnet visits Mandera county following attack

Mandera, Kenya: Inspector General of police Joseph Boinnet on Saturday morning went to Mandera following Friday’s gun attack on Mandera Governor Ali Roba’s convoy.

Boinnet was accompanied by General Service Unit (GSU) Commandant Joel Kitili and senior police officers.

The attack that left 4 killed and 6 injured came just days after the Boinnet was sworn in. This is his first official visit as the Inspector general.

The victims are recuperating and will be flown into Nairobi for specialised treatment.

The governors convoy was on a visit in one of the divisions in the area when the attack happened. Al-Shabaab has since claimed it carried out the attack.
