Two killed after military truck and matatu collide head-on

Two people died on the spot Wednesday after a military vehicle collided head on with a public service vehicle in Kambiti, Murang'a County.

The accident between the Nanyuki-bound military vehicle and the matatu heading for Nairobi occurred shortly after 1pm along the busy Nyeri-Nairobi highway.

Confirming the incident, Murang'a South OCPD, Charles Koskei, said the injured were rushed to Thika District Hospital for treatment.

"We are now investigating what caused this accident while trying to establish the identities of the dead and the injured," he said.

The vehicles were towed to Makuyu Police Station and will facilitate further investigations.

Speaking to The Standard, Murang'a County police commander Naomi Ichami warned motorists plying the highways to be extra careful.

Kambiti is one of the black spots along the Kenol-Sagana road where many have died in road accidents.
