Police kill four suspected gangsters in botched robbery along Thika Road, Nairobi

NAIROBI COUNTY: Four suspected thugs were Wednesday shot dead by police in a botched robbery along Thika Road, Nairobi.

Police say the four were headed for a robbery mission in the nearby Ngumba estate when they were confronted by officers from Flying Squad near Kenya Breweries Limited.

It is not clear what the suspects planned to steal in the area.

A pistol with six bullets and a toy one were found on them in the 11:30am incident.

Witnesses said police seemed to be aware the four gunmen were to arrive at the scene before they confronted them.

The bodies were later moved to the mortuary as a crowd surged at the scene to witness what had transpired.

Incidents of armed robberies have been on the rise in the city leaving police to struggle to contain them. Out of desperation, police have resorted to killing such robbery suspects.

Last month alone, more than 30 suspects were killed in Nairobi alone in separate robbery attempts and guns recovered from them in the war on crime.
