Jubilee says national dialogue should be nonpartisan

MERU COUNTY: Jubilee leaders have agreed to dialogue on condition that a nonpartisan approach is used.

The leaders who were speaking during the commissioning of Chuka Town roads said solutions to the problems facing the nation would be found if leaders spoke as Kenyans and not members of political parties.

Senate Majority leader Prof Kithure Kindiki said Kenya was in a venerable state saying careful approach should be applied.

He recommended that leaders of various institutions sit and discuss the way to settle the various issues expressed by both Jubilee and Cord.

"I have talked to Cord leader Raila Odinga, former presidential candidates, the civil society, the religious leaders and other stakeholders that we may sit together and solve the issue."

He said he had scheduled a meeting with Aden Duale, Moses Wetangula and Francis Nyenze to sit as senators and members of parliament and find out the need for dialogue.

Kindiki who is the Senator for Tharaka Nithi said he had advised President Uhuru Kenyatta to agree to speak with Raila for the safety and peace of the country.

"As Jubilee we have told Uhuru to call the former prime minister, schedule a meeting and hear him out but on condition that the rallies and incitement stop," He said.

Kindiki said the Mwananchi had elected leaders to ensure they maintain peace and find solutions to problems facing the country.

Echoing his statements Senator for Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen said leaders must be able to understand the times and seasons when dealing with issues.

"Cord leaders say that since they are mature in age they have the wisdom. They should demonstrate and portray that in their leadership."

Murkomen said it was wrong for cord leader to say that it would rain hard on Uhuru on the sabasaba day.

He said leaders should refrain from statements that may fuel violence and hate among the Kenyan people.

Call to solve the dialogue issue was also echoed by Kanini Keega(Kyeni), Kimani Ichung'wa (Kikuyu), Muriuki Jagagwa (Mbeere North) and the area woman representative Beatrice Nkatha.
