Man stabs another to death ‘over woman’

A man was stabbed to death on Saturday night at Chepkitwal Sub-location, Bomet.

The deceased, Hillary Cheruiyot, fought with Geoffrey Cheruiyot  who had allegedly been cohabiting with a married woman.

Chepkitwal assistant chief Paul Langat said the two fought but the deceased overwhelmed the other man who decided to stab him several times in the stomach and neck.

Langat said the deceased was rushed to Tenwek Hospital by members of the public but died on arrival from what the doctors described as excessive bleeding.

“The two had been having a relationship with a married woman. We learnt that the two fought at around midnight after the deceased was found in the woman’s house by Cheruiyot,” said Langat.

Langat said the agressor took off, but later surrendered to the police. The suspect is being held at Bomet Police Station while the body of the deceased was taken to Tenwek mortuary.

But members of the public accuse the Provincial Administration of condoning illicit brew trade in the region and attributed the death to the same. They said the two men were drunk.
