Kajiado, Kenya;  A Police vehicle was intercepted at a roadblock in Kajiado ferrying 70 bags of charcoal. The vehicle, registration number GK A149G, was headed to Nairobi from Namanga.

Police flagged the vehicle, whose number plate was covered, after receiving information from the public and arrested the driver, Richard Koskei.

Koskei said a senior officer from Nairobi police headquarters sent him, adding that he got the charcoal from a village in Namanga.

Kajiado County Commissioner Kobia Wakamau told The Standard that the police officer will be investigated and charged with misuse of a police vehicle.

The police boss said Koskei, who is being held at Kajiado police station, revealed all the details regarding who was behind the business and named all signatories involved. He said they will establish who authorised the vehicle’s movement because logistics are available, and culprits will be arraigned in court.
