Trans Mara County: A Brazilian investor is set to establish a sugar factory in Narok County at a cost of Sh2.1 billion.

The investor is among 50 Brazilian companies who have expressed interest in partnering with the Narok County government in a programme that will also see the establishment of a meat processing plant at Ewaso Nyiro and a waste recycling plant in Narok town.

Governor Samuel ole Tunai, who returned two weeks ago from a two- week tour of Brazil, said his government has already set aside enough land for the factory at Lolgorian.

“Our visit to Brazil resulted in a basketful of pledges with one investor promising to build a third sugar factory. This is expected to create jobs for over 4,000 youths,” said Tunai.

Last November, Indian investors Bajarambapu Group and Narok County signed an agreement for the construction of a sugar factory at Lolgorian town in Trans Mara at a cost of Sh10 billion.

Trans Mara Sugar Company at Enoosaen that has been in operation for the last four years was the first to be established in the county.
